What: Marianne Hamsun: Portrait of Knut Hamsun
Where: Grimstad town-hall, the mayor's office
Here it is: Right in the centre of beautiful idyllic Grimstad
What could be more suitable on the wall of the mayor's office, than a portrait of the world-famous son of the city, Knut Hamsun. Here is a charcoal made by the poet's daughter-in-law Marianne Hamsun.
Marianne Hamsun has in her long career as an artist made many portraits, also of Knut Hamsun. She has worked in many techniques from classical oil to collage. Before she was married to Tore Hamsun, she signed her works Marianne Feiring.
The drawing is hanging in the non-public part of the town-hall, but one could off.course ask if it were possible to see the office. Do remember also to see the beautiful mosaic in the city counsil assembly room!
